Fine Art Photography by David Pyefinch

My fascination with visual storytelling began at 14 with a Super 8 camera, sparking a 35-year career in film and television. Yet, the quiet power of photography always lingered. Thirty years later, I returned to my art studies at the University of Tasmania, rediscovering the magic of the still image. My photographs, often born from chance encounters, are not merely images, but invitations to see - to look deeper and discover the extraordinary within the ordinary. They explore themes of memory, nostalgia, and time, their meaning ultimately residing in the viewer's eye. Embracing a minimalist approach, I allow each image to speak for itself, inviting your unique interpretation—a way of seeing beyond the surface. I strive to capture fleeting moments and evoke emotions, creating pieces that transform spaces and inspire new perspectives. After exhibiting in Hobart, I'm thrilled to share these unique photographic moments online, connecting with art lovers everywhere.
